Whoa. What random currents of fate have swept you to this strange corner of the internet?

Whatever inexplicable gravity pulled you into my orbit, thanks for being here, for caring enough to want to maybe understand me. I’m James and I make words with my head and my fingers. I’m a decade long Bostonian with hair past my shoulders and an unused environmental science degree. I have 63 plants and 1 head between 2 shoulders.

I consider myself first and foremost a fiction writer, a novelist to be more specific. But above all else, I heed the call to writing when it beckons me and sometimes that means I’m writing poetry or songs or off kilter personal essays about sobriety, longing and existential malaise like all the esoteric gay men who came before me.

This doesn’t exactly make my publication a concise and keenly defined creature, but it does offer a crude picture of the peculiar entity that is James Worth.

Who is James Worth?

Mostly, he is the work itself. He is the thing that ideas filter through and come out ugly on the other end. He is a devotee to the craft of storytelling. Weaving together characters with heart and hurt, flaw and fantasy. Constructing a world that pulls you in, takes you somewhere you never thought you’d go before delivering you right back to where you started.

Why should I care?

Fiction is my heart and I believe with every sinew of that heart that stories have a deeply healing power. All of my stories in some form or another are rooted in the mind-body connection, or rather the ways in which the mind and body disconnect and how to get it back. It’s a lifetime healing project to make these stories-as-vessels for all I cannot hold. Maybe they can hold something for you, too.

In my stories, I’d like for every reader to find something that makes them full belly laugh and something that makes them cry from their chest. I hope my words can do that for you.

Why don’t you join me and see if I can hold up that promise? We can do it all together.

Where should I start?

This publication is free from top to bottom. If you want poetry? There’s a page for that. Personal stuff? There’s a page for it. Fiction? Believe it or not, there’s a page for that.

My first novel, Mars in Retrograde, is available to read entirely free through this publication. You can check it out below. If you wanna read off browser or toss me some financial support, you can grab a digital copy of the novel on my website, or in paperback. Give the first couple chapters a read and let me know what you think. I’m so grateful to have you here.
